The more genuine connections you can create the safer they feel doing business with you.
How to find your ICA
Do you have a pen and paper ready? Great! The following two exercises will take about one hour. Imagine the person who will buy your product or service without hesitation. They love what you do and they can’t wait to become part of your community.
Here are a few prompts for you to create a profile of your ICA:
Name, age, gender identity, marital status, children, where do they live
Occupation, income (Your ideal customer is someone is willing and able to pay for your offer)
What do they do in their free time
Who do they follow on social media, and which social media platforms are they using?
How do they feel in their everyday life?
What are their core beliefs (values and limiting beliefs)
What are their fears and problems? (If you understand their fears and problems they will feel seen and feel save doing business with you, people buy based on emotions)
What are their desires?
Take some time to create a detailed profile of your Ideal Customer Avatar (ICA).
Create a journal entry from the perspective of your ICA
This exercise will help you to really feel into the fears, desires and aspirations of your ideal client. The more emotional connections you can create the more your customers will feel understood.
Write a journal entry from the perspective of your ICA
What are their fears and problems?
What are their desires?
Is your ideal customer a vegan dog owner, a person trying to transition to a vegan lifestyle, a vegan in search of plant based products or a mother struggling to find children’s books which explain the vegan ethics? Put yourself in the shoes of this person. Close your eyes and take a moment to really visualize the person which you have described in the first part of the exercise (prompts above). Only if you will connect to this person from your heart you will fully be able to understand what moves them.
By the way: There is a big chance that your first ICA is very similar to yourself. That is because we often create business ideas which are based on something we miss ourselves in our lives. Once you have your first clients you can validate your assumptions about your ICA and adjust if needed.
